My chair at work is usually quite comfortable. Today it got switched w/ another that looks almost the same, but has arms. This chair will randomly start sinking, until you are really low. Then you can stand up and raise it again. Sometimes it doesn't do it for a long time, but once it stops it bump-bump-bumps you down. It almost feels like you have the hiccups. That being said, my usual chair is right NEXT to my desk, unoccupied. So why is it that I don't switch them? Am i really THAT lazy?

We have tons of people in the office these days, lots of meetings etc. So if you're not sitting at your desk your chair is subject to musical chairs. Yeah, armbar....cause I know what that means :P EEEk!

Yeah I have a KOTC match [Only registered and activated users can see links] But they said like over 10 days ago they would start looking for someone for me to fight. But here recently they have not returned a single email. I tried 3 times...but its not like they sent a short one back saying "not yet were still looking" I just get no response at all. The match is not till 11/11/06 but I used to be happy and excited to fight...but they have now made it more like nervous and tense. I am still ready to go and would if the fight was to happen. I know they will contact me like 2 weeks before the fight and say "we found someone".

The reason Im so nervous is cause I weight 195 on an avg day...I told them if need be I'll fight in either 185 or 205 class. I need time to cut the weight. I also have to pass my HIV test and get a Dr. to pass me in my physical. All of that I don't know if they provide or if I have to bring the letters with me.....:(

Thanks for the link. While I was at it I read your blog on Yahoo too. Is it just me or does it seem like KOTC has a lot of "last minute" matches? I don't know what the problem is. Don't know if they are trying to put on too many events or if their organization is just kinda unorganized??? Stupid really, cause having fighters come in well prepared = better fights.

Funny cause even before you posted your reply I was thinking: "man, that would make me feel really anxious to not know whether I'm fighting or not and who.

Don't forget to let us know all the particulars if you do end up fighting. Do you know if I get the PPV, do they show the amateur fights? I've only got DVDs and attending a live show to judge by.

Thanks for the support ;)

Dear user @ my company:

Thanks for the nice e-mail telling me how to improve computing security and letting me know how my tip sheet had errors. I see you read an article in USAToday or something on the way to work. How cute. I could go line by line and point out your flawed reasoning and incorrect data, but that would be too much trouble.

I looked up your department, and it shows you're in Finance (Accounting). I suppose I should get a "CPA for dummies book" -skim it over on the commute to work tomorrow and then try to point out things I feel are wrong in your dept.

See all those funny capital letters after my name? That's a lot of training, testing and years into what I do.

Anyways, sometimes I have no clue what goes on inside of peoples heads. And have for a long time stopped trying to figure that out. But the other day, I was driving to make it to work. It is on a Saturday in the AM. I am driving a little fast. 79 in a 55 according to the officer. But this is how I got to that point!

I am driving north bound on 495 (which is a major 4-5 lane highway) and I see a State Trooper make a U turn in the "authorized U turning areas" She was traveling south bound, I saw her from a far off. She was not stopped in the middle, checking radar, she was driving. As she whips her car into the shoulder of north bound traffic I ease out of her way into the second lane. After she enters the flow of traffic in the first lane, I return to just behind her. There are cars doing roughly 65-70 in the second lane, I assume that # being I was going "79" and we were barely passing them. However the 3-4 cars behind me were all keeping the same spacing as I was from the officer in front of me. We drive alone for maybe 2-3 miles and she suddenly snatches her car into the shoulder, throws on her lights, hits her brakes, and jumps in behind me. She made the people behind have to slow down and or change lanes so she could fit back in. I was not really sure what she was doing, till after 10 secs I realize she is pulling me over!!! I pull onto the shoulder, and await her presence. She comes up and tells me she got me on "rolling radar" doing 79 in a 55. She also told me we were on the dash cam in her car.

Here are my questions and concerns...

1. I know police cars are "supposedly" calibrated so that if they drive at x MPH and maintain the same distance as another car. Then that car is doing their speed. Is that "rolling radar?"

2. I know laser is better then radar, but both need to have the windows rolled down to work correctly. So "IF" she had one or the other mounted on the roof (which I did not see) do they work while moving?

3. I have and will not pay this ticket. I have not had any tickets for 3 years. My ins has gone from 250 a month done to 110 a month over that time. I have already printed out a certified copy of my driving record, to take to the judge. I will throw myself on the mercy of the court. Showing that I have changed my driving habits. As well as showing proof that I just returned from a trip to OH (1500 miles round trip) and two trips to VA for my fights (1400 and 1100 miles round trip) Plus I drive a service van for work an avg of 500 miles a week. Thus showing me to be having a good solid footing, to play innocent. I can not afford to pay the 160 dollar ticket let alone the cost of ins increases resulting from points and the ticket in general. What else can I do/say to the judge to help me get this entire thing revoked...or pay barely anything at all?

Python

Rolling radar means it can catch someones speed in front or behind them regardless of how fast they or you are going. Windows do not have to be rolled down sorry:(. Take a driver improvment class before you go to court call your local DMV and get in the next class it will or should help:D TO EVERYONE WHO READS THIS DO NOT FOLLOW A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AT THE SAME SPEED THEY ARE GOING this is paceing which they are observing you at a rate of speed for a period of time to verify that you are going that speed and it will hold up in court. Last but not least don't speed....not that you can't handle it but you never know what kinda crap another driver may do and cause you to crash...Hope this helps E:D

brvheart
03-15-2007, 11:29 PM
Windows do have to be down for Laser....otherwise it bounces and does not go straight, it will still shoot with the windows up, but as accurate.

Easye....hate to say it buddy....DA award for you....NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER get behind a law officer (esp a State Trooper) when driving, move over a lane was good...getting back behind her was a very bad move.

As far as the ticket in court...you will not win period, not worth it. You will waste your time taking off work, going to court, then have to pay the ticket + court cost. Unless she gave the line of site bid where she looked and guessed how fast you were going they are going to take her word.

your only hope is that she does not show up...which is slim to none with a state trooper. You can say all you want how your habits have changed, you drove here there and everywhere...but you were behind her speeding...at the same pace she was...it would take a act of God or congress to get you out of that one.

Who is going to chip in to help bail easye out?

Easye1982
03-16-2007, 07:35 AM
Thanks guys. As for the info you gave me Python, I almost knew it would be something close to that "pacing" garbage. That is why I prepared my closing statement. SO a police officer can drive as fast as they want whenever they want, with no worries of ever being pulled over and ticketed. Can I have a job application? I want to be above the law too.

As for the brvheart. The comment about a state trooper never showing, my best friends got a 1400 or 1600 dollar ticket dropped. Yeah, he's gay like that :hihi: :joke: But seriously I have always only been pulled over by State Troopers, the 1 time I was pulled over by local, I got a warning for failure to yield at a Stop sign. ;) And as long as the judge drops the points...then the court costs and day out of work are a minor snag, compared to sky high ins again.

On a side note will she be asked to show proof? I would like to see it. I know the courts will take her word over mine. But how do I out of the ENTIRE BELTWAY get picked? Just cause I was closest......Whatever :nana:

I will take the driver class too, thanks Python.

brvheart

I would change that opening statement....the Judge is a officer of the law technically and might take offense to that

Python
03-16-2007, 09:28 PM
E, It is not the point of being above the law but as for the officer going fast if you are going to catch a speeding car it is best to go faster in order to catch a speeding vehicle that a compaintant maybe called in about they have to speed in order to pursue in order to attempt to find that vehicle. Or whatever a complaintant has called in. She could have been going to a disabled vehicle or accident...never know.. I am done with this I think no win situation It makes it hard for me being on the side I am, and to many points or things can play a part in this. Best wishes E I hope everything works out for ya dude:D

OK gonna vent on our customer service department.

My plant is working saturday because they can't doe their flippin jobs.... The plant is producing its target numbers but because they "forget" to enter orders, enter the wrong items, enter wrong unit counts etc etc etc we are working this saturday. I wish they worked directly for me so I could incorporate some LONG over due discipinary action. Their mistakes seem to get worse the busier we get and when the plant is running at capacity we can't afford to continue fixing their mistakes.

Worse part is they all go home friday and laugh at us working. There have actually been comments made by some of them to the affect of "oh well the plant will fix it this weekend".

I would love to see one or two of them (the guys) out on the street one day.

we have 8 customer service reps and only two and a half are worth keeping around.

My advice for you is to call up the Commonwealth's Attorney for the district. Talk to him and see about working something out with him outside of court. My friend did that to get out of a 100+ mph speeding ticket. He only got 100 hrs of community service.

I am going to do it for my reckless driving ticket I recently got. I was speeding and knew it was wrong, so I just want to do what I can to make it right, and move forward.

OK Gang. I got something that is hard pressed on my heart....that I need to vent about. So bare with me, as I can already barely type and spell as it is, coupled with the fact that I am highly upset....I hope your all able to understand the following novel of my day.

As some of you may already have know, work has been slow for me lately. I am an electrician an work is always slow around the holidays, but is back on track by the end of Feb. Well this year, it is so slow at my current office that 2 guys are sent to another branch each week to keep them busy. And 1 guy every week gets to work in and around the show, and 1 or two guys stay home. We keep a rotating shift so it fair to everyone. We have about 11 or 12 techs total at or shop, and while it snowed...I was shoveling the owner's driveway just to get hours in.

That back story being said, I went on a job interview this morning. It started at 8am and I did not leave until almost 12. But that is only half of my problems. I knew going into this that the company was going to give me not only a hands on test, but a written one as well. With out going into too much detail to confuse things further I passed the pipe bending test with 100% even though on the last part I had to redo one part since I forgot the exact calculation. But after a second try I got it just as easy as the other 3 bends he had me do. Then a switching test with 100% and a motor control test with 85% (forgot one wire >.< From working fast and not using the continuity tester) Then onto the written, I get a 20 question test that I pass with 60% passing was only 40....but I still got 8 wrong. 3 of them I guessed. :( Then the physc test. A total of around 100 questions that is based on a total score of 79, I got 48. Normal ideal employees will score between 40-50. Below 28 is a no hire. Highest score ever was a 60, but only seen once. (I asked thats how I got those figures). A sample question would have been "Choose A or B which 1 best describes you." A. I am honest and take charge. or B. I am timely and safety concerned. From there they only got harder....lol

Now that all that testing is out of the way, I get to fill out an application for them to keep on file. I had at this point asked 2 different people if my resume was inside the folder they were adding all my results into. Both times I got a "Yes." So I get to the work history part on the app. I get up from the PC and ask for the third time...."My resume is going to be with this app. so can I just put see resume, to save time?" and once again came another "Yes." However the PC will not allow me leave blank spaces in any box, and it wants my dates to go back till I am 18 yrs old. (I am 25 now) So finally, I finish all the needed steps, and am ready to go and see the head of HR for the department I am applying to.

I am asked to sit here, while we wait for this guy to finish with the person in front of me, with 2 others waiting to be after me. I am warned not to take what this guy says to personal. That he may come off as condescending, but he doesn't really mean it that way. I thank them for the heads up, and am prepared to hear some typical BS stories about how this guy is the greatest electrician EVER! After my escort leaves me to wait, I can hear from across the hall...not yelling...but a definite heated argument. With one person saying very clearly "I didn't need this job, I only applied cause your close to where I just moved." Assuming that meant he didn't get the job. I hear the second voice say "Oh, you think your so good of an electrician. Well lets see." At which point the speaker phone dial tone can be heard, and he asks who I imagine was the foreman, what he thinks of this guys work. The foreman says "He was nice enough, just I think he worked a little slow, why?" "Thanks" *hangs up phone* "See your slow, get out of me office." I was like ****, I think somebody just got fired 30 seconds before my interview.....GREAT this is going to be fun. The tech storms out as I am think that, and I am told to go ahead on in....

Now for the fun part.....

I shake hands and introduce myself. He asks me to sit down and tell him what experience do I have. I ask him well isn't my resume in the packet you have in you hand. I get "I don't care about the packet, I asked you to tell me your experience." He says that as he breezes though the packet telling me there is no resume. But he does see the app. I vaguely filled in with minor details. He says "So you have only been in the trade since 2000?" I reply "No, that is as far back as you PC would let me go, thats when I was 18. I have been an electrician since 1997." He clears his throat and asks me if I CAN BEND PIPE! I say "Yes, the app. should have the test results, I got a 100%." The reply again come "I don't care about the app. I asked you a question." He then says that was only 3/4" pipe can you bend larger? I tell him everything I know....EVERYTHING THAT WAS IN MY RESUME!

The next question he asks me "Is did I go to school", again was both in the app and my resume. But now I just answer without calling him out on not reading. I say I finished 2 out of 4 years. He wants to know why I didn't finish. I explain that when I was in school, I was going through the company I was working for. I left them due to bad blood, and did not know I could take mor classes without any company backing me. He just shakes his head.

He then says so I see you have been doing service work for the last 3 years; can you read blue prints? I tell him yes I can, I have been the foreman on crews anywhere from 3-6 men, plus myself. So he points to the blank back side of my app, with a pen and asks me to draw a plug. I reach for his pen, and he snatches it back while pointing at the pencil I used for the written test which I forgot was in my ear. So I take the pencil and draw him a plug. He asks me draw a disconnect, and put the pencil to the paper....and either cause I really did forget, or just because I am totally frustrated, I have a brain fart and can't think of what a disconnect looks like on a blueprint. I tell him the story about how I need to dust those unused braincells off, and give him the example of the pipe bending exercise I did earlier. I begin to draw a single pole switch, a 3 way, 4way, N.O. contact, N.C. contact, this whole time telling him what I am drawing....and trying to find a disconnect. I give up. :( He shakes his head and takes the paper, draws me a stupid disconnect which I say "OH YEAH!!!" The reply was "Not to say your stupid, but maybe if you didn't drop out of school you would be able to read blueprints."

HIS APPLICATION ASKS ME WHAT MY GPA WAS IN SCHOOL....3.2 in High school and 3.8 in trade school. But he didn't read that...or anything else for that matter. I AM SURE I *%#&$(#$ DROPPED OUT CAUSE I GOT TOO HIGH OF GRADES!

I didn't say a word, a shifted in my seat a little but didn't pay his comment any attention. He then asks me what letters AWG on the side of all wire stands for? I told him I never needed to know that, the size and insulation type are all that matter in any calculation. But I would imagine it has something to do with the wire size since it follows that. He again shakes his head and says it stands for American Wire Gauge. He AGAIN makes some remark about if I did not drop out maybe I would have know.

This guy not once asked me any code related questions. And outside of the few times I told him something was in the packet, he never looked inside my folder. He went out his way to bust my balls on topics that were completely unimportant.

At the end of this whole ordeal he tells me that he starts guys without a licence at 24 an hour and with one at 2 dollars more. Raises are based on work, not anything else. If you work fast, safe, at correct then you earn raises. I tell him as I told the other guys that talked to me earlier on, that within this year I will have the needed 7 years to even be able to test for your licence. I say "So wait you mean to tell me that in 6-8 months if I were to come back....the same young punk kid....only with a piece of paper showing you I know what I am already telling you I know. I will make 26 and not 24." He says "I can't promise you I will have work to need to hire you in 6-8 months." I say with more base in my voice. "NO. I said if I came back here with a licence would I get what you just said?" He #@*$& tells me "Yes, IF you can get a licence I would pay you that."

So we agree that I have a lot to think over, and that I will be in contact with him in the future. As I am being walked back to the front door by one of the other examiners. He asks me if I am planning on taking the job. I leave him this bit of my mind. "Outside of the fact that I am getting married in Sept. and that I currently have 2 weeks paid leave with my current company. Which I would lose if I were to come here now. I was told that if I get my licence I can start out making more an hour then without." The guy chimes in "Well, didn't you tell me you were going to get that soon?" I reply "Yes, and after I get my licence I will think at that point if it is worth me coming back here and only working for 26-36 an hour. Or maybe I should just start my own company and make 60-80 an hour." He pauses, and hands me a business card saying "Oh, well I guess call us if you want to start."

Un-be-lievable that someone would behave like that in an interview. I'm guessing that there is a lot of turnover in that company.

Not sure, from what I was understanding he has several people in the office and in the field that have been there anywhere from 5-25 years.

Oh and what all I posted was only about half the story. I left out some of the more detailed electric specific things. As to not bore anyone. But it was like he wanted to fire me before I was even hired.

I also do have to say this Easy...when you go to a interview....you do not point out their downfalls as you put it, or say something like "All that info is on my resume"....you answer the questions as they are asked. It does not matter if they have read them or not...just answer what they ask and dont be a smarta#$#$ that is if you want the job ;)

I will play the devils advocate here. While I don't condone that type of behavior and would never even consider it if I was hiring anyone, he may have done that intentionally.

He may be an abrasive person that really doesn't hear what he is saying or understand what people think of him when he opens his mouth. Obviously the people that work for him know he is like that because they warned you before you ever went in there.

I look at it this way. He basically offered you a job at the end of the interview. he saw something he liked in you. He might not be the ideal boss at first glance but I would be willing to bet he bends over backwards for his employees that really put out an effort.

maybe he has little wee wee and needs to feel really big and tough when he is talking to people that might know more than him. You never know with people.

On a side note I have walked out of interviews that I didn't think the manager I was interviewing with had the same integrity, management style, or interpersonal skills I have.

Easye1982
04-21-2007, 05:44 PM
The way I see it, is that I am there for a job. They need to sell them self to me just the same as I need to sell myself to them. That is what better pay and benefits are for. To get/keep good employees. I have left jobs for people acting like I should do anything for money. I refuse to sell out my principals just for money.

I thought about maybe the guy was testing me to see if I would crack under pressure, but I think that is the way he is. Since I was warned before hand.

Brvheart, I was not being a wise guy. I was stating a fact. His company test me prior to entering his office. Why have me there for 3.5 hrs of tests for a 30 min interview, if you never are going to open the material you are given.

I have seen this type of person before. Since I am so young, people have a preconceived notion that I must not know anything. I made the mistake before by working with these types of people, I will never do it again.

Actually this is something I noted as well Easye. I still think this guys behavior was out of line, and I would not want to work somewhere that allows that or allows interviewees (sp?) to overhear someone being fired either. Still hard to believe someone like this is in HR.

I have done a lot of interviewing and I always ask for information verbally that is already on the resume. You pick up a lot from hearing someone TALK about their previous job. For example, a couple of times I picked up that the person was lying. When I checked out that job it was confirmed that they lied to me. I wouldn't have gotten that from the written resume.

If someone had repeatedly told me to look at the resume when I asked them a question, it would put up a big red flag for me. I would think, this person is hard to deal with and if they are challenging me in the interview, what are they going to be like once they have the job. It's hard to tell for sure without hearing your tone of voice/body language, but I recommend that you never do that in an interview. Honestly, it would be enough for me not to hire someone no matter what their experience. I put much more weight on whether someone is going to be easy to work with, than their job experience. I can teach them what they need to know. They aren't getting the interview in the first place if they don't have the bare minimum qualifications, so all I need to know is if they can learn.

Mastiff_owner
04-21-2007, 06:09 PM
Boo and brvheart both make really good points as to what to say/do during an interview. It is true that teh company needs to sell itself but ultimately it is up to the interviewee to make themselves look like the best candidate. You shold have the option on whether or not you take the job. And you can base part of your decision on how the interview goes.

Something I have learned is people are always replaceable. Finding a good rewarding job that you enjoy is not as easy as it sounds.

Jobs are like water in my area, I do not worry about ever being out of work. Even though this current company is slow, other companies have tons of work. So I am not worried. Besides as long as I work every Saturday, I will make enough side money to cover the slow factor.

After the sour taste left in my mouth, I have decided to not leave this company till after my vacation in Sept. And will never call that company back. Despite being offered the job in Annapolis 25 mins from my house at the Naval base. ;)

I have turned down, scale work before from people acting like that. I will do it again in a heart beat.

My prime objective in any job interview (besides getting the job) is to, at least, put myself in the position of turning the offer down or accepting it. I want to be the one that says "no thanks, not interested, rather than have the HR guy make the decision.

Okay, I'll give this thread a try.

The Queen of England: she seems like a sweet old lady but I got caught up in the traffic here in Richmond on Thursday and I kind of lost it. Then I got into an argument with three house-fraus at a grocery store (one of the ladys was the cashier of the line I was in). A little background about myself: don't talk to me, don't ask me any questions, and defintely don't ask me to do anything until I've had my morning coffee. In other words I'm a jerk until I have a cup of Joe. Anyway back to the grocery store, these women were all talking about the Queen and how special it was to have her here in our state capitol and in Jamestown, bla bla, bla. So while they're yapping I realize the line isn't moving which means I can't get my freaking coffee. (you purchase an empty cup at the register and then go to the cafe area and pour your own cup) Arrrrrrrgh! So I say "You know there is no such thing as a Queen. It's a made up title." These broads look at me like I just clubbed a baby seal or something. I continue, "Don't you think it's insulting for someone to consider themselves to be better than you and think they are your ruler just because of their family lineage?"

"But she's special" one of women said.

"SPECIAL!, What's so special about her. She's no more special than you or I" I was getting worked up.

"She's Royalty"

"There's no such thing as royalty" I said. and finally I'm at the register. And then you know what happened? The cashier intentionally forgot to ring up my coffee so when I go to pour a cup she tries to make me look like I'm stealing the frigging coffee. I go back through line with all of my other breakfast items that I had already paid for just minutes ago. She tries to ring the items up again along with my coffee.

Okay, after reading this post I feel pretty stupid for getting worked up about the Queen, etc. But, I already wrote this so I'm going to post it anyway.

It's not the biggest deal, but if Christians feel castegated in this society when they demand the largest percentage of followers in the US of any religion, I worry that you guys are segregatings yourselves. Imagine how it feels to be in an even smaller minority.

I respected your beliefs enough not to drop into the Jesus is Lord thread, and I just thought that maybe since that thread was about Christianity it would be best categorized there. I should not have negged you and that is why I apologized with the vbookie donation.

You guys are nice, but you all pretty much agree with one another. Kinda like the Wild Hogs thread... one doesn't like it and 7 people agree. End of conversation.

Maybe I'm the only one and I'm completely off my rocker here, but why does Captain America have a gun? He has never used a gun and it's kind of a symbol. If the symbol for America needs a gun to do good in the world, maybe it's not something we need to advertise anymore.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I get it that Bucky doesn't have all the powers and all that, but what's different than him and Batman now then? Batman was almost always darker, an anti-hero, hellbent on revenge. His powers were that he was rich, athletic, and had cool gadgets. The new Cap isn't rich, but it seems like he has the other two things now.

Like I said, maybe it's just me and I'm wrong, but I don't want to see Cap with a gun. I don't want to see movies about it, comics, anything of the sort. If we can't solve our problems by being good and just people anymore, what does that say about us? Forget the world, because I'm sure that it's true that you can't do anything without a gun anymore, but we can still have our hopes and ideals can't we?

Ok, the worst thing about inclement weather is people who will call to see if some extra-curricular activity has been cancelled or not. If it's too ****ing dangerous, don't ****ing go outside!! Does it matter if the goddamn thing has been cancelled if it's too dangerous to go out? You're going to come or not, you're going to put your life and the lives of those on the road and in your car in jeopardy or not. What the **** does it matter if the event is taking place?

Ok, here's the best case scenario. Person gets off the phone after letting it ring 18 times. "Oh wow, nobody is there, I guess it was cancelled. We don't have to go outside." Ta da. You win.

Ok, now here's what's actually going to happen. After getting off the phone with some person who did go in to work or at the event. "Wow, those idiots are still having that event. I'm not sure if we should go outside. I don't want to be the only one there, maybe we won't go."

Lastly, here's the worst-case scenario. After getting in a car wreck that kills your children, your wife, and a bus filled with nuns, kittens and schoolchildren. "Wow, I should have stayed home. Why did I call to find out if the event was still going on? I should have just listened to my common sense, the news, my family, the police, the DOT, the internet, the Weather Channel and Hillary Clinton and just stayed home.

I hate people. I hate people who are only self-serving. I hate people who don't think things through, who only care about what others will think of them, and who don't listen to themselves and forces of nature.

Digital blood in movies. 300 was the first one I remember using it and they used it extensively. It's everywhere now. Rambo used a lot of it and there's others but they're just not coming to mind.

I'm gonna sound like an old man right now, but it takes me right out of the movie when you see blood that just doesn't fit. Am I the only one? This is the same complaint that my grandparents have about other digital effects in movies, but for some reason this is the only one that really gets me.

Remember Saving Private Ryan? All physical blood. Blood packets, squibs, dummies with exploding heads, cut-aways, etc... Know why people were squeemish in that one? Because it looked real.

This digital blood stuff is annoying me and I wish they'd either get it better than it is or stop. There was one movie that actually got it right. I don't remember exactly, but I fear it my have been that vampire movie in Alaska... 30 Days of Night or something like that. I think the only reason that one worked was because the movie was too dark to tell anyway.

Maybe it's just me, but it's annoying in my estimation.

I'm pissed that Chuck lost. And I'm pissed that he fought. And I'm pissed that such a tool beat him.

To resolve these... Chuck should retire, and Forrest should WHOOP Evans.

My complaint will have to do with driving...why in California do drivers feel the need to come to almost a complete stop when turning into a parking lot? Also, when it rains, which happens about 7 times a year, everyone forgets how to drive...makes me INSANE! Also now my fiance has been in two accidents in the past few months and both, I'm pretty sure, were with people who either didn't speak any English, and the last one we're pretty sure was illegal. It's utterly and completely frustrating...

I never got into racing games much. Here lately, I've been getting the itch to try them out and I found one that I like.

Now that I'm into them a little bit, I'm getting the itch to buy a racing wheel with foot pedals. I found some earlier today for around 100 bucks but I just spent a **** load of money last week and with my birthday coming next month, my wife would have my *** if I drop another 100 on a steering wheel. It sucks because I don't want to wait for my birthday.

Here's the worst part. I feel like a selfish jerk for even complaining about it because in this economy, people are suffering with real problems and I'm whining about wanting a PS3 steering wheel. It doesn't change the fact that I want it though.

here's some *****ing from me.

I am currently taking 4 classes for this summer and the courses are only 8 weeks long. I have 2 in class courses and 2 internet courses. Constitutional Law is one of my web based courses and the professor does a great job of laying out the assignments WITH ACTUAL DUE DATES for them. I am also taking a course called Introduction to Addictions where the assignments are laid out but there are no due dates at all. This poses a problem for me because of my current busy schedule and lack of time to address the assignments, I have forgotten to pay attention to them at all. I have 2 8-10 page research papers due by friday along with 4 tests, a debate on whether or not marijuana should be legalized and 4 reflection papers one page each regarding different drug use among young people.

i have no real time management skills after all this time thinking that I did. I asked the prof to assign some due dates to encourage/motivate me to get these assignments done. he declined to accommodate my request. Now I have all this **** to do, my fault of course, and have no time to get on here and participate in the community like I am accustom to.

Another course that I have is Introduction to Human Services which is a joke in of itself due to the fact that I am already 3/4 of the way through the entire program. The teacher in this one seems to believe that no one has any other course outside the one she is teaching and continues to give inordinate amounts of homework even with teh semester ending next week. I am going to lose it. I can't wait for next friday to come and pass.

On top of all this **** that I've gotten myself into, I am going out of town this weekend and won't be around. I will now have to bring all my material with me and work on this when im' trying to spend a relaxing weekend with the GF and her fam. for those who know what this means, FML. seriously.

anyway, I am to blame for all this **** but I still am pissed about it.

Cryfest over.

Bathroom doors that close reeaalllly sloooowly, as in they ONLY close reeaalllly sloooowly! Fuck man, if I'm actually gonna crap in a gas station or dive bar, etc., I ain't got time for that shit -WTF?! Jeebus, it's pissing me off just thinking about it -and reminding me of another one ("on topic"): what is it with toilet paper dispensers that only dispense one measly one-sided rice paper thin shit ticket at a time? It's like working a friggin' solar water collector to actually get something of substance between your hand and your bunghole!!

I have something to whine about for sure. I tried to register for my last class at the College of DuPage and upon calling to get my entry to the class, they told me that my account is locked due to an outstanding balance with the cashier's office. This immediately pissed me off because I pay everything pretty much up front as soon as I get the student loans in. I call the cashier's office and ask them what hte balance is for and they proceed to tell me that my MAP Grant and my PELL grant for the 2010 school year had been charged back to my account because I was not supposed to get the money. What the fuck? I get the money, I pay tuition, purchase books and supplies and the, typically, 100 bucks left over goes toward gas and whatnot.
I call financial aide and they tell me that the money that was issued was done by "mistake" and that I was nto originally supposed to get it. I got the money for the 2010 school year in late 2009. I didn't find out about this until today.......

Had I known that I was not eligible for the grants I would have found other means of paying them for school. I wouldn't have spent the money and this is what I told the dumbass on the other end of the line when she asked me if i still had the money from 2009. Unreal.

So the problem is that I have to sit for a test in December that is called the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification exam and I can't do so until I complete the coursework. Until I pay the $7,148 back to the school, there is a freeze on everything. I can't get transcripts sent if I needed, I can't get grades and I can't get confirmation that I have completed the work (and I have) to send to the national certification or whatever committee. There are so many things that are ethically wrong with this that when I told my uncle earlier, he called a friend of his who is some douche lawyer and he wants me to sue them. I don't want to sue them. I just want them to recognize that they f'd up, that I didn't just not pay my tuition and then work out a payment plan with me that would parallel one that I would have to pay back from a student loan. Is that too much to ask? What do you guys think I should do?

That is just unbelievable Brutus. The only suggestion I have for you is to try and speak with someone higher up in the food chain in that office. If you don't want to go the legal route, try and find someone high enough to listen to you that actually has the authority to do something different than what they do with people who plain don't pay their bills. Lay it out for them that you are a responsible person that wants to do the right thing. If there is a non threatening way to mention the advice you have gotten to sue, but you really don't want to do that. It worked for me once.

I guess what I'm saying is that the guy at the front desk isn't going to be able to do anything but the party line. It's the higher ups that make exceptions. You gotta be feeling helpless right now. Don't give up and remember the worst thing that can happen is another person telling you no. Persistence sometimes wins the day.

One more thing, do it in person, not by phone.

Boo, I"m heading in there tomorrow and asking if I can talk to a financial aid officer and if he/she tells me the same shit, I'm heading higher. I'm just gonna straight ask who in a higher position I can talk to if they don't seem to want to help me. I'm not going to mention the legal route. I think they'll get the idea when my uncle has some guy send in some correspondence on letterhead. COD doesn't want to go to court and I really don't want to either considering they've probably done this about a million times and know the ins and outs.

I did speak with my parents today who said that they are going to give me the 7100+ if they don't take away the hold on my account so that I can get this last class out of the way. My mom said it's not my fault they are idiots and I shouldn't be punished so she's being pretty cool about it. Not too shabby for me not living at home in the past couple years.

Greg - I too was there for the pre req's and now i'm back in a specific program that fast tracks you through the coursework so I can go on to National-Louis and get the additional bachelors in only 1 year. it's actually a pretty sweet deal for people who aren't solely committed to school at the moment.

I'm gonna see what happens tomorrow and if they don't want to recognize my point about them being the one's who have made the mistake, i'm going to pay the balance, complete the final course and then I'm pretty sure I can't talk my uncle out of pursuing legal action. He's a stubborn guy, even more so than I.

^LOL, yeah. that'll happen. they've got a lot of my money already. I went in and talked to the supervisor and she was not really cooperative or understanding at all. Originally, she stated that I have had this balance for almost a year since I am being charged for the grants and student loan from the 09-10 year. I explained to her that I have been in class more than full time for the past year and how would I have registered for class with this balance pending? She told me that she didn't believe that I had taken classes and I looked at her and said "get on your little computer there, look up my student ID number and tell me the grades I got." then I smiled. She did it. Shook her head for a minute. then started talking and I immediately stopped her. I asked her to tell me the grades I had received for the 13 classes I took in the last year and now she was staring at me. I said "Go ahead, tell me I haven't been taking courses and getting grades". She was not at all happy w/ me and I was obviously not at all happy with her. She told me the same thing taht the student at the desk did when I called which was something along the lines of "regardless, you are in violation of a federal regulattion blah blah blah". Basically, I had more than 96 credit hours, total career hours, and I was no longer eligible for student aid. I tool a year and a half of classes back in 00 and 01 and they count them all when considering financial aid. I said "So you guys makes the error in sending me the money that I need to pay for school, I use the money that I asked to be helped wiht to actually pay for classes, you bill me over a year later for something I 'shouldn't have gotten', you tell me I haven't taken any classes, you find that I have been taking classes and receiving grades for a year, and I"M in violation?". At this point it got so ridiculous that I started laughing out loud. She told me that she didn't think that this was funny and I told her the only thing that is funny here is your logic and ethics. They can keep their cookie cutter response to their fuck up and I'll let my uncle do what he wants to do.

I paid the money and am waiting to register for the final course on monday. What a fucking joke.

thanks guys. it's pretty insane that a institute of higher learning be this moronic. I spoke with a few of my friends who know the financial aid office well or have friends that work there and they all said that the employees, supervisors and even the volunteers are overworked, underpaid and pretty much forced to do the work of 4 people each. Not that this excuses the actions of there supervisor but it really does sound like they need some of the money they give to students to hire more help. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if they were properly staffed.

Warning to all... this post is about me venting about my love life. I suggest you skip it and not read, I'm just posting it to vent :).

Anyways, I recently hooked up with this girl who's a friend of mine. She's part of my social group, which includes my 2 roommates, one of whom is dating her roommate (let's call him roommate A). Well, I kind of have feelings for her, and I think she may (but not sure at all) have feelings for me, but because the hook up was decided between us to "just be a hook up", I think I tried a little to pretend I didn't have any feelings for her. Regardless, the night went well, and the next day it was comfortable--we weren't awkward which can happen when friends do it, lol. Anyways, two days later (saturday) she hooks up with my other roommate (Roommate B), and tonight, Roommate A walks in and shows me texts from the girl, saying how she has feelings for roommate B. He obviously doesn't know I have feelings for her, but he knows we hooked up.

Since it's my buddy, and I don't want to mess with his chances with this girl, and besides I'm not entirely sure if my feelings are unrequited. Still, the situation sucks, and I don't even think that he is really into her...but he'd probably date her if she asked him. I'm just not really used to feeling like this. Not to sound arrogant, but just from past experience...girls usually get attached to me, I don't get attached to them when we start hooking up.

So yeah. Hopefully no one think's I'm an idiot for saying all this now, and I know an MMA forum is a VERY random place to vent about love life woes, lol. But I can't really talk about this to my friends because well...it all involves them. I just needed to vent.

Venting is good. But seriously forget her. When you meet the one, you'll know and it'll happen. I promise. And if you arent looking for the one then it dont matter anyway. Don't sweat the small stuff as it wont matter. Just get your lazy butt in the gym; do some sprints, lift lots of weights, and forget about girls. It'll happen when you least expect it.

Great advice. It seems like all the people I know who wanted it too much just ended up in bad marriages. I ended up in a great marriage and I started out thinking I'd never get married. It's may not sound very nice, but I also had the attitude when things went wrong or someone disappointed me, "eh, there's more where you came from." You can have that attitude and still not be a jerk. It worked for me anyway, lol.

Yeah I've realized that... I was just going a little crazy yesterday which is VERY unlike me... at least in that sense, lol. It was a rather odd experience. And I never thought she was "the one" or anything... I just didn't want that door closed to me I guess. Even just today I've realized there's no reason to get all bothered when I actually think about it. I'm cool now :). I'm just gonna stay out of everything and see what happens.

And I've noticed that as well. When you're not trying to get girls, and it's not overly on your mind, that's when it happens. Also it seems to happen all at once to me... I go from a dry spell to two or three girls all at once.

Boo, that's my exact attitude when it comes to dating...which is why it was so unusual for me to feel the way I did yesterday, and get all weird about it. My whole idea of relationships is, if you're dating someone and you think it might not be working out, then it's not. Don't let relationships drag on... it makes the break up worse for everybody. I'm not saying that if you're seeing someone for a few years you shouldn't try to work things through if possible...but generally that's how I operate.

^Hey, we all have our moments. If we didn't we'd be missing part of our emotional makeup (not healthy). Not letting it get to you for too long is the key. Doesn't help having all the complexities of friends being all mixed up in it all. Sounds like you have a good balance. You don't try and make things work that won't, yet anything worth having is worth working hard for. <--Does that make sense?

Thanks for the kind words :).

Yeah, it does make sense, that's pretty much what goes through my mind anyways. I'm pretty quick to end it...probably why I've only been the dumper, never the dumpee. If the relationship's inherent issues are part of a person's nature, or just the love/lust in general is gone and you're in it because it's comfortable-- it's time to end it. My longest relationship being about 9 months, I've never really come into a situation where it's worth spending a long time trying to fix things...but I could see it happening in a longer relationship.

I also don't put up with much bullshit. If a girl cheats on me, it's over: no discussion. That being said (off topic time), I've never understood why guys tend to get pissed at/want to fight the guy who their girlfriend is cheating on them with. That baffles me. Unless the other guy is your friend, he owes you absolutely nothing. Your girlfriend is the one that wronged you, not the other guy.

Anyways, thanks Shotokan and Boo. Just putting the turmoil in my head into words in the forum helped a lot, and it definitely helped to get some input from you guys as well.

I'll third that. Oh yeah Brutus, you are one of those woman beaters.......NOT. Please...

Goes the other way too. Seriously, just this past weekend my Mom was complaining about one of her friend's problem with her boyfriend. She was going on about the woman that this boyfriend was cheating with. I told her, "who cares about the woman, she's not the one who cheated. It's her boyfriend that's the scumbag." My Mom's friend has got to be the biggest idiot I've ever met when it comes to men. She might as well have "treat me like dirt" written on her forehead. I get sick of hearing about it. Listen - I know I will get laughed off this board for this (even though I own it :))

I hate that so many think that it is OK to just "hook up". The recourse of "hooking" up for just sex can be detrimental to the person that might be "the one" to marry and have kids with. Casual sex just because can be very harmful down the line. It is meant to be a bond between two people. I am in the minority on this one I know. And yes I have practiced what I preach. I think that it is meant for marriage.

Not judging what you are doing, just putting it out there is all.

I totally respect what you are saying brvheart. I've seen people rush into sex in relationships, and it can ruin them. Sex isn't necessarily something to scoff at. However, I do respectfully disagree. I personally think that casual sex is okay, as long as both parties involved realize that's what it is, and are okay with that. Again, no disrespect meant, I think it's valiant to wait. No harm can come from waiting, but harm can come from not. I'm a risk taker :)

Not two weeks... about two days :S. I suppose I can't say anything though...the morning after me and her hooked up, she dropped me off at the train station where I met a lady friend of mine who was staying for the weekend. But yes, she does get around a bit I think, that's probably one of the biggest reasons I don't know why I was getting so into her. Generally I can't think of girls as relationship material when the first thing we do is have sex. If sex is first, then sex is all it can be. So why did I get so weird? Who knows, but I'm over it. Still a little awkward hearing them hook up though, lol.

Anyways, I'm gonna stop bitching about all this. This forum's heard enough of my crap :). I'm over it pretty much anyways. Just hope it won't be awkward when we all hang out.

Had an interesting day today. I was at the chemical dependency facility that I am doing an internship at and I was screening someone's belongings that they had family drop off for them. I grabbed a pen out of a guys pocked of the pants that were in the bag of clothing as i was talking to the administrative assistant and she starts yelling at me "JASON, JASON, LOOK IN YOUR HAND!!!" I was talking with my arms as usual and when I looked at my hand I didn't pull a pen out of his pocket, it was a used syringe. I sorta just stared at it for a minute. At first I wanted to just be like "WHAT THE FUCK MAN?!?!" but i'm in a professional setting now and I have to act in such a way so I thought a second. The cap was on it, I had gloves on and I was in no immediate danger but there were giant windows in front of me where the clients could see directly in and the door 5 feet away was wide open. If someone had seen that needle, it could easily trigger some using thoughts and really fuck someones day up. So the first thing I did was slam the door and hide the needle under the jeans I found it in. My Unit Coordinator was apparently walking toward the door when I slammed it so she opened it and asked what the yelling was about and why the door slammed. I showed her the needle and she just said "Go pull him out of group".

Stan, the head Direct Service Technician was in the same group as a co-facilitator and I had to pull him out too so we could deal with it. He is an older black gentleman who runs the tightest ship ever for a rehab center and he is one strict bastard. His first words were "WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY NOT CHECK THE GOD DAMN PANTS?" and I immediately startd laughing because he's just a funny guy.

The guy who's clothing it was was scared shitless as stan made him take the clothing he was currently wearing off to screen it. His voice was shaking and so were his hands and rightfully so considering most of the guys in the facility I work at are looking at a minimum of 10 years in prison if they don't successfully complete treatment. Stan was yelling at him the whole time we were searching him. The whole time we had to have him pee in a cup to test for opiates and the hole time he was putting his clothes back on after the screen(they have to strip to their boxers). After the quick drop drug test came back negative Stan says in a kind and calm voice "Make sure your folks check the pockets next time. Now, go call your peoples and tell them." After the call was over the guy says they are going to go through his room and make sure nothing is there at all. Stan looks at him and says "well what the hell you just standin there for? Get ya ASS BACK TO GROUP!!!". To which, I again, laughed my ass off.

It didn't really bother me about the needle being in there I was more so pissed off that it could have stuck me or something. I take it as a big learning experience and I have to be more careful when I do screenings in the future.

^It's definitely what I want to do. Going back to school in February of 2009 was the best thing I've done to date. I have 1 week left of the internship. I had to do 600 hours of interning which equals roughly 15, 40 hour workweeks. Because I had to work full time to pay rent and interns don't get paid, I had to do 25 hours a week to finish it. there were, however, definitely weeks that I did more than the 25 due to other staff being out or special occasions. by the time i'm done I'll have roughly 650 hours of clinical experience. I've been there since May 14th of this year and I have really enjoyed not only the learning aspect but the clients as well. Most people in there were pretty good guys who just made seriously terrible decisions while on drugs/booze. I'm going to be starting a job there in January and the only way I would have even been considered was going through an internship first. I am pretty amped about it.

I eventually would like to open my own DUI evaluation facility, be a coordinator of a Men's unit and eventually run the whole facility. I can't really do anyting until I get either my LCSW or LCPC

Tonight I get in a mini-fight with my girlfriend. She asks me to go up to her place (a 20 minute drive) to move a bed. I ask if her brother (who lives with her) could do it. She says that it's okay that she'll move the bed with him. I'm like okay. She then calls me a crappy boyfriend. I get upset, about it because I think I'm a pretty damn good boyfriend but I know I overreact so I explain my situation and apologize. She's still pissed and says how disappointed she is. What the hell?

That's great Brutus, hopefully everything works out!

And Seito, I'd offer advice but the way my love life's been lately you probably shouldn't take any advice from me. Girls are crazy. However, Brutus makes a good point. Displaced anger is an extremely common event, and she was probably just craving attention and getting you to move the bed would get you over there, and also show that she has some level of control over you. In her mind she may have been frustrated that she couldn't get you to come over using moving the bed as an excuse. I'm sure she could have got her brother to help, but she wanted YOU.

I'm not saying that she's frustrated by the apparent lack of control over you...that's just the psych student coming out. It might be something much less sinister...like she was feeling down and wanted to see you and took out her frustration from that on you. Who knows. Girls are crazy sometimes.

If it's an isolated incident, doesn't seem worth a dumping. BTW, I would have done the same thing. It's silly for you to drive 20 minutes when her brother is right there. Now if she was going to have to haul the bed up 2 flights of stairs, it would have been good to have two guys.

If she brings it up again, I do have a suggestion. Don't get defensive. Calmly say just what I said above (not the dumping part) and ask her what it is really about. Either you'll find out she really is unreasonable/high maintenance or she just might surprise you.

Protip: Might sound odd, but if you open a bag and don't finish it, put it in the freezer. They stay fresh, and don't get frozen in the conventional sense. Just colder and crispier than room temp. Fritos are especially good this way. Thought it was the weirdest thing ever when my old bassist used to do it, until I had some of them.

My roommate convinced me to come out to a party a friend was having, so I decided what the hell and instead of going to bed early like I was going to I downed some coffee, got ready, and left.

I was halfway there when I get a text from my roommate saying the party was a total bust (read:empty), don't bother going. So here I am, at home, wide awake.

I know it's not a big deal, but it's annoying to get going and wake up and get in the mode to go out and then have it be a bust. I could've just went to bed early like I was going to so I could get up early tomorrow and study. Ugh.

Especially when I think about the shitty people I'm dealing with during the day stressing me out so much that it taints those precious 3 hours with my family.

So I don't know how hot it is for all of you guys, but it was 49 degrees celsius (118 Degrees Farenheit) here with the humidex today (36 without). What a delightful day to work an overtime shift in a plant that doesn't have a heat policy in effect. I also had to wash bins today...in a closed off room pressure washing huge plastic bins with an industrial SUPER powered pressure washer that shoots out boiling hot water in a cloud/jet.

It wasn't even worth the 300 bucks I made today.

^That sounds truly miserable. Until today it's been miserable. Last night we got some rain and some relief.

Bummer (Boo) -what do you do?

Last year we hired this absolute bitch (fuck, she was my #1 choice?!) who seemingly single handedly made it a miserable year for a lot of us in too many ways. Then all of a sudden after about two months into this year, she got up and QUIT. The difference was night and day, but it certainly took some time and great effort to undo all that she had done.

In general I don't always see eye to eye with the folks that I'm stuck with at work, but as they say: the show must go on! I try to keep my focus on the task at hand rather than my own feelings and my work relationships, although it is much easier said than done.

Was grappling today and got an accidental headbutt to the nose--I was on top in kind of a half guard and was lunging down as he sat up fast, and slammed my nose. We both heard a very loud crunch, and I think my nose might be broken. It's not out of shape at least, but it's very swollen and sore.

And yesterday I was paired up with this one guy who I can't stand, though he means well, and was holding thai pads for him. Lo and behold, despite my repeated instruction to take your time, work on technique, aim for the centre of the pad...he would often (for some reason) kick straight up as hard as he could instead of horizontally and would basically kick me in the face. He did this about 4 times, even after me trying to correct him.

He is honestly doing it on accident, he's just a moron, and he always wants to be partnered with me....ughhh.

I got my lip split open and the bottom of my inner lip cut up from it.
I just had to vent. Thanks :D

I think I meant to ask you Bonzai -what you did for work...

I don't know why I think your "something to whine/vent about" is funny to me -in a slapstick kind of way I guess. One man's misery...

I'm a student studying computer science at Carleton University in Ottawa.

I'm not currently working, I usually just work my butt off during the summer and sometimes work part time during the school year. The past three summers I've been at a dry ice plant working labour. Man is it rough on the body--but I guess that's why I'm going to school, lol.
