If the numbers you provided are correct, then your connection speed was 2.91 Mb/sec.

What kind of conection are you paying for? Who is your ISP?

These are the things that can affect a download:

1. High traffic to the download site. If 2347893298 people are all trying to grab stuff from the Sony servers, then everyone gets a slow connection.
2. The download could actually be a P2P application that the PS3 uses and most ISPs are using some form of bandwidth shaping, which is a fancy term for slowing down certain types of traffic. You can thank the RIAA for that little nugget of crap.
3. A lot of ISPs also slow down your connection if they notice you are using a lot of bandwidth at one time. This is done in the best interest of the community, so that one person doesn't suck up all the bandwidth. i think it is crap, improve your infrastructure to handle what people are paying.

I want to move to Japan where they are implementing a 100 Gb/sec connections. This is essentially a Blueray movie in less than a minute. It would have taken you about 2.4 seconds to download that game at that speed.
