Music question:

What band/artist/group would you say is like a fine wine? By that, I mean the acts you think have aged well musically?

Mine for example is R.E.M. They're definitely one of my favorite bands of all-time and they still make great music.

What do you guys think?

Ahhh...the old joke: If you own one ACDC CD you own them all.

For me it would be Iron Maiden and Ronnie James Dio. Between Rainbow, the two old Black Sabbath albums, the Dio albums, and the new Heaven And Hell (which, ironically, is the weakest of all the ones listed) release, Dio just has an incredible track record.

Mega Deth and Judas Priest are making a hard charge to get back to form.

Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder

Vedder will go down as my all time favorite artist and pearl jam was phenomenal back in the day. Eddie has some great stuff floating around in soundtracks as well. Guaranteed, Hard Sun, etc.

Metallica and Tool for me as well. Maynard James is a genius when it comes to writing.

Do you really think the last two Metallica albums were up to their old standard? St. Anger was a dog (in my opinion, of course) and Death Magnetic was the first step on the road back. By no means am I one of those people who say that anything after And Justice was awful.

^I completely forgot to throw that disclaimer in there. I agree with you 100%. as a matter of fact, i haven't even hear the entire album of st. anger because the first 3 tracks pissed me off so bad(ironic huh?) and as for death magnetic, i heard enough on the radio that would tell me not to buy the disc. No thanks. Same goes for Korn by the way. I"m a huge korn fanatic and havce seen them live about 14 times dating back to about 1997. All of their albums up till you get past, mmmm 'untouchables' were excellent. The new Korn sucks but they do get a couple songs here and there that are pretty decent.

Case in point, I went to the Korn concert at Toyota park this summer in July and 85% of the music they played was off the first 5 albums. Everyone was still amped and everyone still went nuts. the guys have been doing this **** for over 15 years now. I can't believe i didn't mention them in my original post.
