I was watching an HDNet Fights I had taped a few days ago with my son, who is 7 and he is currently taking a BJJ/grappling class. It was one of their highlight shows dealing with come from behind KOs. After watching a few fights he turns to me and says "When are they going to go to the ground?" I told him that this show deals with people getting knocked out and that a lot of people don't like it when fights go to the ground. His reply was awesome. He said "But that is when it gets exciting!"
When we watch the fights together he loves to point out what position each guy is in (half guard, side control, full mount, taking the back with hooks in, etc...) and he gets all worked up when they start to attempt a submission that he recognizes. He also likes to talk about what each fighter should do to get in a better position. I think he would completely loose his **** if he saw a successful armbar in a fight.
It makes me proud that my kid appreciates the ground game when watching fights.

That is truly awesome my friend. Maybe the next generation of MMA fans will be ones like your son who are a bit more educated and are able to appreciate the sport for more than just the violent endings. This gives me hope. People who complain about the ground game are the reason taht I stopped watching events with casual douche fans.
Can I come and watch an even with you and your son? I think it would be fun to hear him commentate on the ground fights.

Some day in the future, we should plan a MMAWorld get together to watch a PPV. Get a bunch of the regulars and make a weekend of it. The funny part is, we wouldn't know each other's real names. Just a bunch of people hanging out calling each other Prophet, Brutus, 2Mcgrath, BrvHeart, Boo, etc...
We would sound like a bunch of escaped mental patients, or a really poor excuse for a street gang.

It doesn't matter if I know you guys real names or not. In my head you are Prophet. Brutus is Brutus, etc. I would have to pause and make myself call you something else.
In addition to the Chicago event with Brutus, I got together with a bunch of MMAWorld guys at a Columbus event and you'd never know that we had never met before. It was a blast. At the Minni show, I stayed at Mastiffs house for the weekend. Took my son along and he played with Mastiff's daughter while we went to the event. BTW, Mastiff really does have two HUGE Mastiffs. There are some really terrific real life people on this forum.
Tell you what, I have a nice wooded country place. You guys can do some fishing in the lake out back in the morning. Kick back in the hot tub in the afternoon and then watch the PPV in the evening. I'll even make you a girly drink Prophet. I am also centrally located.
OK, back to the original subject. That is way cool about your son. I would be proud if it was my boy. Some day I hope it will be. We intend to get him involved in BJJ when he is old enough. Hopefully he will like it. They also have a wrestling club for kids as young as 4 or 5 in my town. It is Iowa afterall.

My favorite girly drink is Disaronno Amereto with pineapple juice. It is like liquid candy.
