Barry Zito is staying in the Bay Area with the San Francisco Giants.
Sources told ESPN's Peter Gammons that the former Oakland A's pitcher has agreed to a seven-year, $126 million contract with the Giants.
The deal includes an $18 million option for 2014 and a complete no-trade clause, a source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.
If Zito pitches 600 innings over the last three years of the agreement, 400 innings over the last two or 200 in the final year of the deal, he can either exercise a player option or opt out of the contract

Thanks for posting this Grabaka. I just haven't had much computer time lately and I'm glad that other sports fans can step in and help...
It's a huge contract no doubt. And laced with incentives. I was waiting to see who would make the big step for Zito and lay out the big money. Time will tell if the Giants can step up and bring the bats. It would be sad to see another Clemens/Astros situation where his ERA is hovering right around two and his record is .500 and below. It's sad to see.

Well I wanted my team (angels) to pursue him but I can say that at least he went to the NL. Because if the Giants, Dodgers , or Mets didnt strike a deal.....The other serious interest teams were the Rangers and Mariners which are still AL WEST.... So good riddance Barry Zito...... LOL

Very happy the Mets did not get him. I like the Phillies chances even more now.

No problem buddy. I'm a sports junky, so whenever I see something that's big news I'll post it in here.
It's definitely a huge contract. I believe it's the biggest deal a pitcher has ever gotten. As a Dodgers fan I'm bummed that the Giants picked him up, but I don't think he'll be enough to get the Giants over the hurdle. Like you said they need to bring in some bats. All they have right now pretty much is Bonds that is an elite hitter. Losing Alou will definitely hurt. I like the Dodgers chances in the NL west this year. I think they had the best offseason in the division.
