(I knew if tried really hard I could work in a ****ens reference. My favorite author.)
Whoa! What happened? I got censored for saying an author's name? I think the censor-bot needs a little tweaking.

jj- that's funny! I can just picture that. All of us committed to a ward like 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and rolling around on the linoleum floor and the nurses and counselors calling security and the rest of us saying, "no, it's cool. It's not a fight! He's just trying something he saw on Unleashed!"
Which reminds me of a funny story. My daughter had a problem in school - got assaulted, no injury. Anyway, I wrote a nice, formal business letter to the Principal complaining about security and requesting an audience with the guy. I did not get a response. About 2 weeks later, I got dressed up in a suit and divebombed him cold at his office. His persona at the school is a tough, no nonsense guy that the kids don't mess with. He is in fact a nice guy and very professional. He is also a former HS wrestling coach and an NCAA wrestling referee, which I knew, and I have been to several dozen meets over the years where he was the zebra. A few week prior to me divebombing him, he had reffed at the NCAA D-I meet, which is a huge honor. I go into the office and tell the secretary that I am here to see the guy. I tell her my name, she goes back and tells him. I see him walk from one office to another and I can tell he is prepping for a fight. I am cool as a cucumber, almost smiling, because I know he has probably argued with parents his whole career and is expecting a fight and I know this is going to turn into a bs session about wrestling. I just knew it. Plus, my brother is a Principal and I am not about to go and give a Principal a hard time. He summons me back, we shake hands, introduce ourselves, and I hold up my one hand in a fist and point to him with my other hand (the referee's signal for stalling) and I say, "You know, I've been watching you from matside for the last 20 years and always wanted to do this to you!" Bam! It was off to the races talking about wrestling for about a half an hour because of the 'secret wrestler's handshake'! We were talking about specific controversial calls that were made in the recent D-I meet and he gave me some great insight on some stuff. Several times we were on the carpeted floor of his office demonstrating moves!!!! It was one of the years that Josh Koscheck was wrestling at Edinboro and I remember him saying that Kos was a nice kid and very respectful. (One of the reasons I am a big Koscheck fan). After about a half hour of this, we're like, 'okay, this thing with my daughter...' We did get it straightened out and I remain friends with the guy.
Am I a bad parent?

jj- ....Am I a bad parent?
Are you a bad parent? Are you kidding me, that was a perfect tactic. You pulled a Ben Franklin. Franklin said to persuade someone you must first agree with the other guy's position and then show them where they are wrong (obviously I'm paraphrasing here). You went in and found common ground with the principal, had a enjoyable conversation, and then let him know you wern't satisfied with the way the situation with your daughter was handled. Sounds as if it worked. Well done:thumb:

Speaking of that cage thing, my wife and I are expecting our first baby and I was telling a fellow MMA junkie friend of mine that I need a mini UFC cage for my kid. I'd put gloves, head gear, a heavy bag, ect in there. Forget leaving your kid in front of the TV for a few minutes while you take care of something, just put him in the cage!
