This site, if you don't already know is great for finding gyms that train various forms of MMA. Although they do not have all the different gyms out there; it is fairly well stacked with alot of choices. Try to search by your state only at first, to help you get started, then try to filter/narrow those down to one by your town.

How far are you from Fredericksburg VA? there is a really good BJJ school there. They just changed their name so I am not sure what it is called now but it the instructor is Gracie trained. Which was why he had to change the name. I guess they hadn't approved his gym or something. It is right off RT1 and 208 at four mile fork. let me know if you are interested.

LOL! there's like no selection for Iowa. Thats hilarious. Shows you how much people care about the corn state. In iowa, namely here in Des Moines, there are two good schools. More than that but these are the ones I've been to.
1. Des Moines MMA Academy - the owner is an All American Wrestler (probably more)
2. Des Moines Jiu Jitsu Academy - the owner is Gracie Trained

Double post prevented :) see post below
Just something interesting I read. This could be why so few sites list Iowa schools :(

I think most websites don't list iowa schools because Iowa schools don't market themselves out for one. Two- most any state in the US views Iowa as a corn state and that nothing is here but farmers.
NOS is trying to change that a little with his website. As for the rest of us Iowans (not by choice) we have to settle for word of mouth.

Well you came to the right place. We have quite a few members here from Iowa, unfortunately I'm not one of them. Here's a spot in Des Moines I found just doing a random search at a BJJ directory site: [Only registered and activated users can see links]

I don't know how good it is, but you can check it out. Hope I helped a little.

I am gonna be in the metro Manila Philippines area for about 6 months visiting family and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good mixed martial arts (mma) gym that I could check out. I am in the Caloocan area so if there is one farely close to me that would be best. I am just looking for a gym that I can roll around in and pick up some technique and sharpen my skills. If anyone can help me out on this that would be great. I appreciate any helpfull feedback. Thanks

I just had to pimp my buddies gym in case there are any lurkers from the Frozen Tundra, er, North Dakota.

It's the Academy of Combat Arts in Fargo, ND. Check out the website: [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Next weekend Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk will be doing a seminar there. Dylan has been teaching/training at the MMAA ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) for many years. His MT instructor is a machine also. If you're ever in the area, stop by and check it out. There will be many other "stars" in the sport stopping by to give drop in classes and seminars over the rest of the year.

I love cross pollination of threads.
