Gabe Ruediger Discusses Dismissal from The Ultimate Fighter 5
Gabe Ruediger (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who was dismissed from last night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 5 for failing to make weight, has posted a message on The Underground.
Ruediger, who claims that the show didn’t show the reality of the situation, admits that he didn’t consider The Ultimate Fighter 5 to be a real part of the UFC and instead considered it a “marketing tool.” He also wants viewers to know that his plan to exploit the show for his own recognition did work.
The Team Quest fighter was supposed to fight Corey Hill in last night’s episode, but after failing to drop the needed 21 pounds, the fight was canceled, and UFC president Dana White booted Ruediger from the show.
Gabe's Response
Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t been on here, but Ive been focusing on my training and less on the negative comments I see here.
I just want to say, please take what you see on TV with a grain of salt. Ive said it many times before and Ill say it again. REALITY TV is NOT Reality. I realize that Im painted as a less than stellar character, and it is causing a LOT of you to pass judgement. I saw the show as just that, a show. I wasnt looking at it as the UFC and I wasnt looking at it as anything more than a tool to ensure my face would be recognizable. Basically, a marketing tool.
I allowed my behaviour to be “over the top” and made sure my antics were always in the fore front. In retrospect, i would have done things very different, but it DID work. Im human and will make more mistakes in my life and I will be accountable for it. We all do STUPID things, I just had a camera on me when I did it.
From this point forward, Im going to let my future actions decide who I am. The past is just that and I will not allow it to define me. My dedication is to be the best fighter I can be, and that is where my focus is now. Im thankful that I have a great team that supports me 100%. I have Dan Henderson, Heath Sims, Sokoudjou, Shawn Tomkins, Mayhem Miller, Art Santore, Rani Yahya, Dave Gardner, Ryan Parsons and everyone at Team Quest supporting me, so I guess Im not THAT bad of a guy! LOL
To those that support me, Thank you. Im glad that you can see through the hype and still feel that Im worthy of your support. To those that pass judgement blindly. Im sorry that a TV show completes your reality. I hope that with my future endevours you might see a different side. To those that hate me regardless, well, you have more than enough ammunition now!LOL There are those that will hate you regardless of what you accomplish.
Im more than happy to talk to anyone in an adult fashion and explain my view point more in depth, so feel free to check out my website [Only registered and activated users can see links] and contact me through there. If you want to send a “Your a *****,blah blah blah” note. The web admin just deletes them.

ya know, that actually makes me think even less of him than I did before I read that. bottom line, I'm glad he got kicked off the show and I hope Dana NEVER gives him another fight in the UFC. I want Gabe "just throw me back in" Reudiger to be relegated to fighting local promotions so fighters that are 100% dedicated to their craft can use him as a stepping stone to get to the big show which is Pride/UFC.
NEWS FLASH GABE--THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER IS A REAL PART OF THE UFC WHICH FORTUNATELY YOU WILL NEVER BE A PART OF.
I know Mastiff, it ticked me off too. There are a lot of guys that are serious that could have had that spot.

Hey Boo or Nos could either of you post the file here? thanks ;)

I second that ;)
Sure, I'll start uploading it. Trigg told it how it was, but I don't think he was overly harsh. It's a pretty good show. They also had Stephen Quadros (the Fight Professor) on as a co-host and I always like to hear his insight on anything mma.
I'm going to have to put it up on megaupload though. The slow Internet connection doesn't allow me to upload anything to the forum.

lol I find it funny that "twinkle toes" is ripping on Gabe. Of course he always makes weight and comes out to compete so he does have a point. More I think about it the happier I am that he is gone.

I ca not figure out how to use that megaupload site, oh well. I was not impressed with Gabe on the show or in that interview. TUF is in its fifth season, Gabe knew exactly what the show was about so I call BS on his claim that he thought it was just a show. Trigg always comes to fight and he is a talented fighter. I think he at least calls it like he sees it so I have no problem with a guy like Trigg ripping Gabe in an interview.

This was well worth using up an hour of time to listen to. Quadros and Trigg made a lot of sense and were very good on this show.

Hey brvheart- can we waive the "No fighter bashing" rule in Gabe Ruediger's case?

I don't personally consider it fighter bashing when we are all basically stating fact. no different than Tito having his porn star girlfriend act as his manager. Its not bashing its more like making fun of them for stupid decisions.

Considering Gabe didn't fight I say he's not a fighter in which case I also say he's a tool.

You make a very compelling argument.
Seriously, if you acted like he did on the show and then saw yourself on TV acting like a fool, crybaby, headcase, etc, how could you face anyone who knows this sport? How can he stand it? Even when you factor in the editing, he still came in out of shape and overweight and didn't seem to care. I am sure that after auditions for this show they put several guys on standby or reserve in the event that one of the 16 got seriously hurt or locked up just before the taping started. If i was one of those guys I would want to track Ruediger down and make him pay.

Perhaps they could pelt him with eggs and axle grease and make him run through poo.

I thought for sure that when the guy was 170 the night before, and 168ish the morning of....and within 3 lbs with 3 hours to go...I just knew he had to know what he was doing. He had 14 or so fights, so he claimed, so if he eats ice cream cake and steaks so what...if he makes weight. My beef is he cried like a sissy, cause it was too hot in the sauna, he was doing little to know work to try and loose the weight in the first place. Thus the request for the enema. I think he either did not want to fight Corey, or was just the biggest cry baby about cutting weight ever! How can you be a fighter, meant to be a man among men, and you go for months being a lazy slacker eating like there is not a problem. I know he would have made weight, had he started out 4 day or even 3 days earlier. That is why I think he got scared.....

The ironic thing is that Corey is not the bass@** he claimed he was and Gabe would have had a good chance to beat him had they fought.

I will not ask you to clarify that for me, since I have not seen yesterdays eps. And would not want any more spoilers.....lol But like I said way before the season even started, a 6'4" 155 fighter will either be the greatest thing ever or the weakest rag doll. I have been waiting all season to see the guy fight, and they have make the one eps I miss a double headed. :(

If you guys want to make yourself sick, go to TUF on the SPIKE TV website and on EXTENDED SCENES, watch the clip where Gabe Colonic gives his motivational speech to the guys on his team. I'm not kidding.
