I don't know about you guys, but I thought that Rob won that bout. Corey just didn't look as impressive as I thought he would.

I will not be able to watch for a while but want to know who won the fights tonight. Did Lauzon win or did Corey win in ugly fashion. Did BJ finally win a fight or is Pulver still in control?????? I ned info.lol

I think the theme of that fight was "fear." Neither one of them looked impressive. We've seen what Emerson is capable and he was scared to lose a second fight. You could see it in his face.

Corey Hill looked tentative and missed a bunch of opportunities to close that fight. When you add to the equation that it was his first professional fight, then he looks a lot better.

I called the first round Corey, the second Rob, and the third a toss up. I could have gone either way, depending on how much emphasis I put on being the aggressor. I think that is what must have swayed the judges for Corey. Counter punchers do well in boxing, but mma is not kind to that style when it comes to a decision. They also don't score much for leg kicks. <--I would score them higher.

Rob should have kept up with the leg kicks. Even though judges don't seem to weigh them heavily, they can devastate your opponents offense.

@Mastiff-Joe won and Corey won. Team Pulver keeps the hammer.

SPOILER

Lauzon won. I still can't believe Gerahty(sp) picked him to fight. What was he thinking. Fight is worth watching. Lauzon can fight, man.

The other fight was a big disappointment IMO. Neither had a sustained offense. Both were afraid to jab their way in. I had the fight going the other way. I had Rob winning the tiebreaker round easily.

I was so fired up for these fights all day I couldn't stand it, but I was disapppointed.

They announced that there will be 2 fights on next week's show.
P.S. Everyone made weight and nobody got a colonic this week...

I am very happy to know that there are no colonics this week. If another fighter didn't make weight I would have blown a gasket. Lauzon is making a case for the Pulver fight not being a fluke. If thats the case we could have another serious contender in the making.

That is what Pulver had to say about it. One quote from Jens is, "Joe came and did his job." Jens specifically said that calling it a lucky punch or a fluke was just being bitter. He said, Joe threw the punch and it landed, not lucky (paraphrased).

Jens also said something to the effect that he was glad that Lauzon showed he is the real deal and no fluke, as it shows that he did not get beat by a b@*#h.

perhaps you misinterpreted. I was in no way meaning that Pulver called it a fluke of any kind. I actually came away from that fight with a little more respect for Pulver because of the way he handled himself after the fight. I just didn't know if it was a lucky punch or not because Lauzon was basically brought in to be cannon fodder for Jens big return to the octagon.

No, no, no. I knew what you were saying. Jens handled it with class when he lost and he contiunes to during the show.

Nah, I knew what you meant Mastiff. Whenever someone wins like Joe did against Jens, fluke and lucky punch is thrown out. Really we didn't get to see what Joe could do in his fight with Jens. It was over too quick.

I just was impressed with what Jens had to say tonight. Good for him to man up.

I like Lauzon and he has the chance to go all the way.

While I was watching the Hill/Emerson fight I was getting Deja Vu from the Andy fight; BJ on the screaming instructions and his fight ignoring him altogether. Rob had a good chance at submitting Corey if he would have been willing to mix it up with him. Hanging on the outside of Corey's reach (which sort of puts him on the other side of the octagon) will not win a fight. Emerson should hane concentrated on those leg kicks, they looked nasty and would eventually took Corey down. Corey looked ok for it being his first fight but IMO he has no business even being there. I don't like the idea that he lied to get in and when he was found out there no repercussions at all.

I don't have a problem with how he got in. he wants to be there and is putting forth the effort to get better. I would have had more of a problem if he had a Gabe type attitude while he was there.

as for the fight, Emerson didn't do enough to win. That is the bottom line. If you don't go 100% the entire time you can't complain about a decision. Judges make bad decisions all the time. If you leave it in their hands without completelyl dominating then you are setting yourself up to fail.

Being as he had a second chance on the show I am actually glad Corey won that decision. Of course he won't make it past the next round but thats ok.

I try to put myself in the shoes of a fighter that has been passed over, "that has paid his dues" in smaller organizations and half empty rooms. Those are the fighters that deserve a chance, assuming they have enough raw skill to advance in the UFC or Pride. I respect Corey for working hard, I'll give him that, and there is a part of me that admires him for going for it and pursueing his dream.

I thought Rob won, the first round was a draw, the second was Rob's and i thought the third was Rob's too.
Corey did very little besides throwing out the occasional jab and then being hit with the counters, **** he wasnt able to take rob down and the one time he found himself on top, Rob got a heel hook in.

I wasnt very impressed by Corey, i know when you actually get in there its a completely different story and its stupid to criticise the guy thats atually in there doing it, but i dont know man, i was expecting him to be more explosive and have a way sharper stand up game, but who knows Rob could have been a spoiler for his style and he will impress me next time (dont think so though).

Now Joe and Manny on the other hand, those guys impressed me with their explosiveness and aggressiveness, Joe has some good skills and killer instincts too, hes my favourite so far.

I gave Corey the first Rob the second and the third was a toss up. At that point you just have to agree with the judges decision. If you don't want to leave it in the judges hands do something to show you are the better fighter. I don't think either did enough to win that third round so will agree with the judges.
