View Full Version : *Spoilers* Ep. 11
Joa Lauzon...is he overrated? I haven't seen the fight, but he did lose to Manny. Actually, the only reason we all (or at least I) thought he was good was because he KO'd Jens. Truth is he's so aggressive, and his striking is super sloppy, but he's all over you, so he's bound to catch you. Yeah, he has a good ground game, but there are others who are better than him. Your thoughts?
(Will post in more detail after I watch the show tonight.)

Like you I have not seen it yet. I will wait to watch before I decide if he is overrated or not. I think he might be the best prospect of the group on the show. Not just because he KO'd Jens but becuase I saw a lot of real ability there.
When I say overrated, I'm not looking down on him as a fighter. He has good skills and talent, but he's not as "great" as I thought.

I never really thought of him as great personally. Can't get a good idea of someone's skills based on a 1 minute KO of a veteran fighter. He has just impressed me on the show. He listens very well, does as told and has heart and work ethic to succeed.
No, I don't think Joe is over rated. I still think he has tons of potential and predict he will do well in the future. I just think that he met up with someone (Manny) who is just as aggressive as he is, and is a superior technical fighter. I also had not noticed before how very FAST Manny is until I watched tonight's fight. I think Joe was overwhelmed by Manny. I wish I could ask Joe if Manny was a lot stronger than he expected.
Now I have a question. Is it just me, or did Karo come off like a real jerk at the beginning of episode 11? I think I'm going to have to quit listening to interviews with Karo or whenever he is talking period. The dude is determined to mess up my enjoyment in watching him fight.
I don't think he's overrated. I do think he's scary and has the 1000 yard stare.

I felt his reaction to Diaz was a little extreme but I try to reserve judgement a little bit on this show until I hear some other sources. They edit that show to make it look the way they want it to look. Karo has a big fight coming up at a UFC PPV and now people are talking about him. I don;t trust them. That having been said, Diaz is a very good fighter but has attitude for days. He better start giving respect to fighters that have actually accomplished something than start his ghetto posturing. If I was Karo Diaz would not have been cleared medically to fight at the finale.
Actually Keithpas, I'm not basing my reaction completely on what I saw on the show. It's also the interviews I've heard with Karo and a story recounted by Joe Lauzon. Joe is pretty laid back and Karo was all over him too, copping an attitude over nothing. Joe also said that what we saw on the show was not the only incident between Karo and Nate.

I think a lot of fighters are that way. Some can pull it off some can't without coming off a certain way. We didn't see near everything that happened. They only showed clips of them training for about 3 seconds and were only showing clips of the argument as well. Both guys are pretty easily riled. I personally dislike Nate more than Karo because he comes off kinda ghetto and Karo just comes off arrogant/cocky. Two words that have been used to describe me numerous times.

Ahhhh, no wonder then you aren't bothered by ...ahem... certain fighters.
FYI Joe critics himself (plus talks of some other stuff) in his article he writes for the Boston Herald.

I hope you are not thinking of a specific fighter..... that both B and I happen to like.........
and like I said before some fighters can pull it off some can't. Jens for instance can't pull it off.

Karo needs to chill a bit, then he might get the respect he deserves. Acting like a tool sure ain't going to get it for him. I love watching him fight but I can do without the tough guy act and calling out other fighters for no good reason.
