Would we be out of line to ask why she did it?

At this point the info is sketchy because the family is in no condition to communicate with us. It appears to have been well thought out; yesterday she told some co-workers that it would be her last day. She secretly turned in her uniforms and her employee ID card. I talked with her yesterday because I could tell she was feeling down. At first she said she did'nt want to talk about it but eventually she said that she had broken up with her boyfriend of 1 1/2 yrs. Of course I told her to keep her chin up and that the loss was his. I'm sort of regretting what I said to her but I understand that it had nothing to do with what she did. there were some family issues involved but nothing that we know of that could help us understand this. We are just rocked by this situation, it is just devestating to all of the people on the campus. Her mother is also a co-worker and we are very very worried that she might also do something exteme. This girl would come and visit me for no reason than to just say hi, she would bring me couple of pieces of candy (that I would normally not eat) and if she saw me after not having seen me for a while she would give me a little hug and tell me that she missed me.
I'm the one who is missing her.

Man...keith...I am here for you, we are all here for you. Just keep your faith in God strong, and that He will see you though this trial. We will be keeping her family in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh Keithpas, I am so sorry to hear about this. Suicide is so hard to deal with in so many ways. A friend of mine's 21 year old daughter committed suicide last year and it was devastating for the family as I'm sure this is for hers. I think it is especially sad and difficult to understand when they are sooo young and seemingly have so much to live for.

Try not to feel bad or guilty about what you said, although that is very typical to feel that way. I've brushed up against suicide several times and the people left behind always see in hindsight signs of what the person was planning. The thing is, it's ONLY clear in hindsight. You just don't expect someone to do something so drastic over a breakup.
