Just and FYI...

You might have been seeing some slow downs and lock ups with the site, I have been working with our host to try to pin point the issue and resolve it. Please be patient while we are working through this. I know that it has been going on for a long time, but our host thinks that they have it figured out :) so we should see it clearing up.

Thanks for you patience and sorry for the inconvenience and frustration that it has caused.

I am getting a pretty slow response. Especially if I compare it to other sites. Also have occasional lock ups. Eventually the site will respond, but I go do something else in the meantime cause it takes awhile.

Oh yeah also, I get the same thing on dial up and high speed cable. No difference in response time, and there definitely should be.

thank you, I have been saying for a longtime that it is not just me seeing it and that compared to other sites....it is slow. My host and I are trying to work through it.

There's a notable pause for me when refreshing or clicking on a sub forum... but I just thought it was because I'm D/L a lot of Torrents !!

FIrst thing I noticed when I joined was that it is a little slow compared to other forums. It's not ridiculously slow but it is pretty slow. It's the kind of slow that makes you say aloud "come on....what the -? Oh here we go"

No need to reply, just an FYI.

You beat me to it Storm. I was going to comment that it seems even slower than usual tonight. Painful almost.

BTW, I know you are working on it, I'm just giving you feedback in case you might think it's fixed.

I get a "delay" -then it pops up.
Slow, but bearable.

ok all,

Until these issues get worked out (either waiting for our host to fix it or find a new host if nothing can be done by our current one - he is working on it), the shoutbox and welcome panel both add to the slowness....so here is the choice:

Do away with those two items until the resolution comes, or deal with the slowness until the resolution comes and keep those two items.

Now the site is still slow and locks up with those two items being gone, but it will take some of the slowness away....so what do you guys want to do? It is up to you, I will do what you guys would like all you have to do is let me know, majority wins on this, it is the only fair way.

So speak now or forever hold you peace :D

OK, my vote (and Storms too, I guess :) ) is for dealing with the slowness and keeping the features. Now I'm assuming by that, it isn't going to take 6 months to speed ur up.

Thanks for the update. It seems to be slower for me after 5:00 PM. I have dial up. Is that because of higher traffic?

macman

On dial up im sure you will see some slowness due to all the larger than noraml
images people post. But no you should not see any slower then naormal now due to bw issues on this side, We have that fixed. I hope now that more people will chime in and report what there seeing, The site for me loads fast from home all the time.

Yeah, they do need to chime in. Otherwise, it would be hard for you to evaluate problems if you aren't having them.

I'm curious to see how much better the cable hookup at work is doing now that you've fixed some problems. We will see today.

Thanks

The host is going move the site to a different server to see if that helps, after that is done we all need to chime back in and see if that solves any issues.

Well this week my background is dark and I can't get the old light theme back. Also in firefox it shows up way to large and I have to use the horizontal scrollbar to see everything including paging controls. I haven't changed anything- it just popped up like this one day.

brvheart
10-10-2007, 09:38 AM
well....the light version has not been updated with all the addons etc, it will be back when I get a chance to update it.

as far as the size, that is a browser setting, I also use only firefox, never internet exploder....I hate IE.

Real slow. Just got my new internet and it's 7mbs down, aside from the fact that you're not that far from me. Over the last two weeks or so it's been slow for me, home today and at work.

You should do a traceroute to your server brv, see if it's not your server but some relay station inbetween you and the server.
