do you think EliteXC needs it's own forum?

^I have a better idea. How about a Pro Elite forum? Pro Elite runs EliteXC, ShoXC, Cage Rage, and ICON Sport.

I like that option....on there own there isnt enough for its own section but as a whole it would be perfect, great idea G

Manny Tapia vs Antonio Banuelos will probably be the sleeper fight of the night. Should be a good one.

Good pick. I'm very interested in this fight. Banuelos is a big threat to Tapia's undefeated streak. I'm sure this one will be a war.

I don't think you should, because they have no ties to Pro Elite and it would be misleading for those who aren't as familiar with the sport. I know the IFL forum here doesn't get many looks, maybe you can put it in the North American MMA section if you are still planning on going that route.

I talked to Manny a couple of weeks ago. He's ready for this fight. Manny has never really "trained" for a fight until now. I have an article on him in the Feb issue of FIGHT! Magazine.

He's a really cool guy, very humble. His ground game is very underrated.

- JESSE MORENG WITHDRAWS FROM WEC BOUT
Friday, February 08, 2008 - by MMAWeekly.com

Jesse Moreng has had to withdraw from his Feb. 13 World Extreme Cagefighting bout with Scott Jorgensen. MMAWeekly.com sources on Thursday night confirmed that Moreng fractured his foot this week and can barely walk on it.

He reportedly attempted to train through the injury and stay in the fight, but was forced by his camp to pull out of the fight.

The fight was part of the scheduled undercard for the promotion’s first foray outside of Las Vegas since being purchased by the owners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in early 2007. It is set for the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M., just outside of Albuquerque.

The Feb. 13 event features three championship bouts, headlined by a battle between current welterweight champion Carlos Condit and challenger Carlo Prater.

It was unknown at the time of publication if a replacement would be found for Moreng or if the promotion would have to scrap the bout altogether.

-Carlos Condit vs. Carlo Prater
-Rob McCullough vs. Jamie Varner
-Chase Beebe vs. Miguel Torres
-Yoshiro Maeda vs. Charlie Valencia
-Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Leonard Garcia
-Micah Miller vs. Chance Farrar
-Mark Hominick vs. Josh Grispi
-Manny Tapia vs. Antonio Banuelos
-Cody Wheeler vs. Del Hawkins
-Scott Jorgensen vs. TBA

The card isn't taking a major hit, but it sucks to hear he fractured his foot. Hope he gets healed up quick.

^agreed. This fight card is loaded, and that was the fight I was looking forward to the least. Not that it was going to be televised anyway.

These WEC shows are great. This has been boldly written on my kitchen calendar since it was announced. I am looking forward to the Micah Miller-Chance Farrar fight. Also, I think Jamie Varner is in trouble.

- DAMACIO PAGE ADDED TO WEDNESDAY'S WEC
Monday, February 11, 2008 - by Ken Pishna - MMAWeekly.com

World Extreme Cagefighting on Monday announced that Damacio Page will step in to take the place of an injured Jesse Moreng at Wednesday’s event in Albuquerque, N.M. Page will now face Steve Jorgensen in a bantamweight (135-pound) contest.

Although he’s taking the fight on just two days of notice, Page told MMAWeekly that he’s ready to go, as he was already preparing for another bantamweight bout scheduled for Feb. 28 in Canada.

“I’ve been working out and training hard. I’m feeling pretty good. I’d say I’m at 100% and ready to go.”

Stepping in with Jorgensen, who has a strong wrestling base, is particularly appealing to the Greg Jackson-trained fighter.

“My conditioning is good and all that, but I especially like the way our styles match up. He’s more of a wrestler and doesn’t like to get hit,” said Page. “If he tries to take me down, it’s not going to happen. I kind of want to stand with him and bang.”

Page hasn’t fought in nearly a year, since knocking out Rod Montoya last March. He had planned to return in October, but suffered a rib injury that kept him sidelined for a time, but says he’s ready to go for Wednesday night’s bout.

“I have a pretty good feeling about it. It’s going to be a knockout,” he stated.

With a 9-3 professional record, two of his losses being to world-class fighters Genki Sudo and Danny Batten, Page feels its his time to make a run at the big leagues and he feels like the WEC is the place to do it.

“I want to make a good splash. I want to make a run right away at the title,” he said, speaking of current champion Chase Beebe, who will be defending his belt on Wednesday night against Miguel Torres.

If all goes well and he emerges unscathed, Page’s contract with the WEC allows for him to follow through on his Feb. 28 TKO fight in Montreal, where he is scheduled to face Justin Tavernini.

Moreng was forced to withdraw from the bout on Friday, as he suffered a fracture to the second metatarsal of his left foot during training last week.

The Page vs. Jorgensen bout brings the WEC fight card back to 10 bouts.

The promotion has also added an extra half-hour to its live telecast on the Versus network for Wednesday’s event, leaving open the possibility for additional fights to air. Current bouts listed for the telecast include Carlos Condit vs. Carlo Prater, Rob McCullough vs. Jamie Varner, Chase Beebe vs. Miguel Torres, and Manny Tapia vs. Antonio Banuelos.
