JASON WINTHERS FAILS 2ND DRUG TEST IN CALIF.
Tuesday, November 20, 2007
The California State Athletic Commission on Monday announced that previously suspended athlete Jason Winthers, who lost to Richard Blake in the main event at the Nov. 3 Rebel Fights event in Pacerville, Calif., and recently tested positive for a combination of Methadone and Morphine, has now tested positive for anabolic agents with metabolites for both Stanozolol and Trenbolone found in his system.
He now becomes the second athlete, following Adam Smith, in the state of California to test positive for anabolic agents and drugs of abuse at the same time.
His initial suspension runs from the conclusion of the bout on Nov. 3, 2007 through July 30, 2008 and he was fined $1,500. Due to the fact that Winthers’ positive test for anabolic agents constitutes a second separate violation, a second suspension and fine were implemented.
His total combined suspension for the two violations is 21 months with fines totaling $4,000.
